The decision was made in order to shift focus towards launching the Ramcharger first, which is a series-hybrid model that uses a 92-kwh battery pack and a 3.6-liter V-6 engine as a range extender. The Ramcharger is set to arrive in the first half of this year and promises 145 miles of pure electric range, with a total range of 690 miles when including the gas powertrain. The cancellation of the bigger battery leaves the Ram 1500 REV with a 168-kwh pack that Ram previously estimated would deliver up to 350 miles of range.
