A recent study conducted by vehicle history report firm EpicVIN has identified car brands with the lowest percentage of fatal injuries in reported accidents. Using data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality and Injury Reporting System Tool between 2017 and 2022, the study analyzed injury types to determine the likelihood of fatal injuries for occupants involved in fatal vehicle crashes. Among the car brands analyzed, Tesla was ranked as one of the ten least likely to be involved in fatal accidents.
According to the study, Tesla was the third least likely car brand to be involved in fatal accidents, with only 28.78% of occupants suffering fatal injuries out of the 490 total occupants involved in fatal accidents from 2017-2022. Land Rover followed closely behind Tesla with a fatal injury rate of 23.65% out of 575 total occupants involved in fatal accidents during the same period. Ram stood out with an even more impressive fatal injury rate of just 18.68% out of 5,593 total occupants involved in fatal accidents.
CEO of EpicVIN, Jurgis Plikaitis, commented on the findings of the study, noting that many of the car brands on the list specialize in larger vehicles like SUVs and pickup trucks, which can potentially provide better results in high-speed accidents.
