In the 10% road trip challenge conducted by Out of Spec Testing, the Chevrolet Silverado EV proved its capabilities. The test involved driving the EV down to a 10% state of charge, charging for 15 minutes at a DC fast charger, and then assessing the distance covered when back to 10%. With a 24-module, 800-volt battery pack storing approximately 215 kilowatt-hours of energy, the Silverado EV exhibited remarkable charging speeds and efficiency.

During the 15-minute charging session, the Chevrolet Silverado EV reached peak charging speeds of 361 kW and maintained over 300 kW throughout. It managed to go from 10% to 45% state of charge, adding over 84 kWh of energy back into its battery pack. This translated to an impressive 129 miles on the road at 80 mph, surpassing the performance of its competitors in the same test.
Balancing Performance with Energy Efficiency
While the Silverado EV excelled in terms of charging speeds and range, its energy efficiency was less stellar. The truck achieved just 1.7 miles per kilowatt-hour, which is below the efficiency levels of some of the most efficient EVs in the market. Future Prospects for Silverado EV Technology
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV 4WT boasts a GM-estimated range of 450 miles and is not available for individual purchase. However, the battery technology powering it, known as the Max Range pack, can be integrated into the latest 2025 Silverado EV RST model, which offers a GM-estimated range of 460 miles.
