Improved Driving Range and Facelift for Skoda Enyaq
Skoda recently unveiled the facelifted version of their popular Enyaq electric vehicle, boasting an extended driving range of up to 371 miles according to WLTP testing. Based on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID.4, the Enyaq has gained popularity in Europe due to its impressive specs, spacious interior, and competitive pricing compared to other EVs on the market.
Exterior Changes and Improved Aerodynamics
The most noticeable change in the facelifted Enyaq is the new Modern Solid face design, featuring a distinctive front grille and LED daytime running lights. Skoda claims that these changes have improved the aerodynamics of the vehicle, resulting in a lower drag coefficient and increased efficiency. The regular version of the Enyaq now has a Cd of 0.245, while the Coupe variant boasts a drag coefficient of 0.225, contributing to higher driving range figures with the same batteries and motors as before.
Expanded Range Options
The facelifted Skoda Enyaq is available in three versions: the base 60 trim with a 59-kilowatt-hour battery, the 85 trim with a 77-kilowatt-hour battery, and the 85x trim featuring all-wheel drive. The 85 version offers an impressive driving range of 371 miles on the Coupe model and 365 miles on the regular crossover, surpassing the previous maximum range estimate of 354 miles. The 85x variant can travel up to 352 miles on a single charge with the same battery as the 85.
Charging Capabilities and Performance
Despite the varying power outputs and torque figures of the Enyaq models, the base 60 trim can accept a maximum charging power of 165 kW, while the 85 and 85x trims can handle up to 135 kW and 175 kW, respectively. Charging times for the Enyaq range from 24 to 28 minutes, depending on the model, with performance figures ranging from 8.1 seconds to 6.7 seconds for the 0-62 mph sprint.
Enhanced Interior Features
In addition to the exterior changes, the facelifted Enyaq offers a new exterior color option called Olibo Green and more sustainable materials in the interior. Standard features include heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a five-inch instrument cluster, and a 13-inch infotainment screen. The software has also been updated to allow users to precondition the battery before fast charging sessions.
Expected Pricing and Availability
While pricing for the updated Skoda Enyaq has not been officially announced, it is expected to be in line with the previous model’s MSRPs. In Germany, the outgoing Enyaq 85x was priced around $53,000, indicating that the facelifted versions will likely remain competitive in the EV market.
