Features of Samsung’s Digital Key
Samsung’s Digital Key technology is integrated into Galaxy smartphones, including models like the Galaxy S20, Note 20, Z Fold2, and Z Flip 5G. The Digital Key is securely stored in the smartphone’s digital Wallet and offers three different methods for controlling the car: Ultra-wideband (UWB) for hands-free access, Near Field Communication (NFC) for tap-to-unlock, and Bluetooth low energy (BLE) control.
Benefits for Owners
Owners can now leave their physical car keys at home and use their Samsung smartphones instead to unlock and start their vehicles. While the technology does not currently support remote locking/unlocking or interior temperature preconditioning, users can still utilize the manufacturer’s smartphone app for these additional features.
Security Measures
The digital key stored in the Samsung Wallet is safeguarded with a PIN and biometric verification. In case of a lost or stolen device, owners can remotely lock or delete the key through the Samsung Find service, similar to Apple’s Find My feature.
