Luxury electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors has set a new record for the longest-range electric vehicle with its 2025 Air Grand Touring sedan, which was recently tested by Kyle Conner of Out of Spec reviews. Conner drove the vehicle well over 500 miles on a single charge, making it the longest-range EV ever tested by the channel. The vehicle had 19-inch aero wheels and was tested on a typical 70 mph highway range loop. By the end of the test, Conner had surpassed 520 miles and was still going, using only dim parking lights to save battery power.
The Lucid Air Grand Touring is the highest-ranged configuration of the sedan, with a starting price of $112,400 for the 2025 model year. The vehicle is rated for 480 miles of range, making it one of the longest-range EVs on the market. The Air Grand Touring is also the second-most expensive trim, behind the ultra-luxury Sapphire trim which starts at $250,500. Lucid Motors also offers lower-priced trims such as the Pure and Touring, priced at $71,400 and $80,400 respectively.
In addition to the Air sedan, Lucid Motors is expected to begin production of the Gravity SUV later this year. Lucid CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson drove the first pre-production Gravity off the production line in Casa Grande, Arizona in July. The company is majority-owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which holds a 59.4 percent stake. Lucid Motors also received a $1.5 billion commitment from the PIF to help the company progress towards profitability in the future.
The EV maker has also made strides in Saudi Arabia, where it built the first EV factory last year. The factory produced around 800 units by the end of the year. Lucid Motors is focused on expanding its lineup of electric vehicles and improving its technology to offer longer range and faster charging options to customers. The company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability has positioned it as a leader in the luxury EV market.
Overall, Lucid Motors continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology with its long-range Air Grand Touring sedan and upcoming Gravity SUV. With the support of the Saudi Public Investment Fund and a commitment to profitability, the company is poised for success in the competitive EV market. Customers can expect to see more innovative products and advancements from Lucid Motors in the coming years as it expands its lineup and builds on its reputation for high-quality, long-range electric vehicles.
