Genesis has released an updated version of its flagship luxury electric sedan, the Genesis Electrified G80, in Korea. The new model features a roomier interior, increased range, and a sleek new design. The updates were unveiled for the first time at the Busan International Mobility Show in June, showcasing a fourth-gen battery with a capacity of 94.5 kWh, providing up to 295 miles of range in Korea.
To enhance the driving quality of the Electrified G80, Genesis made improvements to the front and rear bush specs, added an Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS), and implemented active rear-wheel steering (RWS). The exterior design of the vehicle was also updated, with new bumpers and lamps fine-tuning the existing G80 electric. The most significant change was made to the signature Genesis crest grille on the front, featuring a gradient G-Matrix pattern and a larger air intake.
The interior of the updated Electrified G80 has been improved as well, with a longer wheelbase providing best-in-class rear seat comfort. Rear passengers now have more legroom and headroom, along with a quieter cabin thanks to the Active Sound design (e-ASD). A 27″ OLED infotainment and driver display, a 17-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system, and other new features such as an interior fingerprint authentication system have been added to enhance the luxury experience.
Genesis has introduced new features such as a “Chauffer Mode” and flagship-level luxury features like VIP rear seats to elevate the Electrified G80 to flagship status. The Chauffer Mode optimizes torque and suspension settings for a smooth and comfortable ride, and luxury features like a one-button easy rear door system and an electric door curtain add to the overall experience. The updated model is priced starting at around $66,900 in Korea before incentives.
Following its launch in Korea, the Genesis Electrified G80 is expected to arrive in Europe and North America. In the US, the 2024 Electrified G80 starts at $74,375 with an EPA-estimated 282-mile range, which is expected to increase slightly in the updated model. With its advanced technology features, improved driving quality, and luxurious design, the Genesis Electrified G80 aims to provide a top-tier luxury sedan experience without compromising on performance or comfort.
