Kia has recently announced the updates to the all-electric EV6, promising increased range and faster charging capabilities. The 2024 model features a radical front-end redesign, interior enhancements, and a larger battery pack as standard. In the U.K., the base model, known as the Air, starts at £45,575 and comes equipped with features such as 19-inch wheels, automatic headlights, heated front seats, and a seven-year warranty.
One of the most significant changes to the EV6 is the larger battery pack, which now has a capacity of 84 kWh, up from 77 kWh. This upgrade improves the base model’s WLTP range from 328 to 361 miles, making it a more attractive option for environmentally conscious consumers. Additionally, the dual-motor EV6 offers a range of 339 miles, and the GT-Line S variant with 20-inch wheels has a range of 324 miles.
Thanks to its 800-volt E-GMP underpinnings, the EV6 has always been known for its high charging power. With the latest refresh, the charging power has increased by 8% from 239 kW to 258 kW. This means that a 10 to 80% charge now takes just 18 minutes, with 15 minutes of charging adding an extra 213 miles of range. The top-of-the-range EV6 GT will also be refreshed in early 2025, likely with additional power and an aggressive body kit to differentiate it from lower models.
For consumers looking for a sportier option, the GT-Line model offers a sporty exterior makeover, tinted rear glass, vegan leather-covered electric front seats, and aluminum pedals. The top GT-Line S trim adds even more luxury features, such as 20-inch wheels, artificial suede seats with cooling function, an improved sound system, and a head-up display. Many of these enhancements are expected to carry over to the U.S.-spec EV6 when it makes its debut.
While Kia has not confirmed a specific release date for the updated EV6 in the United States, it is expected to arrive before the end of 2025. The refreshed model has been available in Korea since May, and its arrival in the U.K. has been met with pricing starting at £45,575. With its increased range, faster charging capabilities, and sleek design updates, the revised EV6 promises to be a competitive option in the electric vehicle market. As technology continues to advance, Kia’s commitment to innovation and sustainability shines through in the EV6’s latest upgrades.
